Kilometres of golden sand, stunning ocean views, legendary surfing spots and entertainment abound. Surfers Paradise is one of Australia’s best beaches – and is home to Bobs Beers.
BOBs Beer is an acronym for Best of Beers and is Surfers Paradise’s first and only brewery. BOBs' range of beers includes four core beers and a large number of seasonal and limited releases added regularly, all paying homage to the Gold Coast.
The brewery has 12 and 24-hectolitre fermenters for double brews providing plenty of capacity for a diverse range of seasonal releases and a barrel program for super limited releases.
In total the brewpub has 16 taps, eight reserved for BOBs Beers and the remaining featuring guest beers from other top-notch independent brewers from around Australia and New Zealand.
The BOBs Beer brewery is led by head brewer Ryan Fullerton. Hailing from Red Duck Brewery in Alfredton, Ryan was stoked to make the move from chilly Victoria to the sunny Gold Coast all in the name of beer. Ryan has worked tirelessly on the BOBs Beer core range and is passionate about tying locality and the associated Surfers' culture into each beer he brews, as well as using the taps on site to showcase other awesome craft breweries and their wares from around Australia and New Zealand.
Ryan says he’s enjoyed the freedom to create all of the beer recipes from the ground up and thinks the core range will cater to newcomers, seasoned beer geeks and everyone in between.
The BOBs Beer kitchen is under the expert guidance of head chef Norbert Szlama, born in Czechoslovakia with Hungarian heritage. Chef Norbert thinks of food as an art, a masterpiece which brings smiles and happiness to every patron in a food establishment.
Prior to qualifying as a chef, Norbert successfully accomplished diplomas in political science and architecture, but could never put cooking aside. His passion for art and cooking were never in doubt and he is now convinced the two cannot be separated.
Chef Norbert has since developed his style and cuisine, and is known for his passion for Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. Norbert likes to twist these cuisines and implement a working fusion between them. Nothing proves this vision more than his own restaurant, The Lane, in Coffs Harbour which is an awarded restaurant with French Japanese fusion cuisine.
BOBs Beer is the opportunity Norbert has been waiting for in Australia, and his mission is to prove that Surfers Paradise can be on the map as a culinary destination. BOBs Beer offers all imaginable fusions that complement our main hero: the beer.
